Why Classical Junk?
Because most people, when they think of classical music, think automatically of the Pachelbel Canon or a Mozart Symphony. This station is here to promote some of the more modern music that isn't as appreciated as much, the music that these people think of as junk. As a result, you may hear 16th century and 20th century music played back-to-back.
Are the playlists random?
No, I create the playlists. I feel that it is important that a work is played in its entirety, instead of a single movement from the work like most stations do. Since most works consist of more than one track, there is not really an easy way to randomly play complete pieces without manually creating the playlist.
I try to have a nice variety of music in the playlists, balancing symphonic works, concertos, and solo pieces from all time periods. I also do my best to fulfill requests and will add them to the playlist regularly. At the moment, the playlist repeats itself about every twelve hours. I try to change the material around every week or two. As I acquire more music, I'll increase the total size of the playlist.
Who was (name of work) performed by?
A complete list of all music available will be posted in the near future.
How do I request a song?
You can e-mail requests to requests@classicaljunk.net. Feel free to request anything you would like to hear, as I have more music than what is listed in the catalog. If I do not have it, I will do my best to find a copy to purchase.
